Monja Taiker 艋呷台客

Monja Taiker offers a variety of delicious dishes. I highly recommend the Popcorn Chicken or the Fried Chicken Steak. They’re both very crispy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, complete with photo murals of a Taipei night market. The staff is friendly and helpful, making recommendations and ensuring a smooth dining experience.

Don’t forget to order the shaved ice at the end of your meal. They’re very generous with the toppings.

They deep fry their meats really well. I tried the popcorn chicken, fried pork chop, and red grain pork. All had a nice starchy and lightly crispy crust with moist meat inside. It’s like they applied the Taiwanese popcorn chicken crust to the pork chop and red grain pork, which is a good thing because I think their popcorn chicken is exceptional. (Note: I’m used to the pork chop being fried differently and I’ve never had red grain pork before.) From the photos, I was afraid the red grain pork would be dry and not taste good, based on my experience with HK style char siu, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious and moist it actually was.
